Your Help is Urgently Needed Israeli aggression against the Palestinians takes on its most heightened form in the downgrading of quotidian pogroms into normal and accepted events. During the Al-Aqsa Intifada, the Israeli army has demonstrated its ability to go beyond the decimation of a people. Indeed, the casual observer is left to wonder how can systematic ethnic cleansing not foment rage against the Israeli war machine in the international arena sufficient to end the racist, inhumane, immoral, and illegal essence of the Israeli state.
Perpetual campaigns to eliminate all leadership of the Palestinian resistance, American provided Apache helicopters and F-16s bombarding civilian areas, the complete Israeli suffocation of the president of the Palestinian Authority Yasser Arafat, constant and thorough degradation of the humanity of the Palestinian people through the artifices such as checkpoints, closures, permits, and imprisonment all have taken a toll on the Palestinian nation.
Fiction is the keystone of the Israeli state. Although it projects itself as democratic state, in the world of non-fiction Israel is a racist, Apartheid state that premises its own existence on its so-called 'Jewish' nature. Sound familiar? The National Socialists (Nazi) in Germany had the same idea: a German state for the German people to the exclusion of Gypsies (Roma), Jews, Slavs, and other supposed 'lesser' peoples.
The Palestinian people suffer, in part, because they have no state. When the Israelis re-conquer Palestinian cities such as Ramallah and Bethlehem - laying siege to these cities as if they could offer any true fight - it battles against something that does not exist, namely, a Palestinian army. If the British would have suppressed the terrorist Israeli groups - such as the Haganah, the Irgun, and Lehi - to the same extent that the Israelis suppress the Palestinian resistance - Fateh, Hamas, Islamic Jihad, et al. -there would now be no Israeli state today.
Dispossessed by the Zionist Plan Dalet in 1947-48, dispossessed in the Israeli usurpation of East Jerusalem in 1967, and dispossessed through never-ending colonization of the West Bank and Gaza Strip as well as Palestinian areas in Israel, the Palestinian people suffer from chronic poverty living presently on under $2.00 a day according to the World Bank.
According to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society, the Israeli army has been responsible for 2,398 Palestinian deaths and 23,150 Palestinian injuries as of 24 June 2003. It would take the death of 204,000 Americans to approximate the scale of disaster during the past 30 months.
The Palestinian people need your generous help. Your donation helps ensure that there are services available to the average Palestinian such as functioning hospitals, schools, summer camps, legal aid, books, and houses. According to the World Bank, real incomes (per capita) are half their pre-intifada level and unemployment stands at 53% of the workforce. In these dire conditions, Palestinians need your assistance to outlast the Israeli occupation regime.
