The Jerusalem Fund provides community assistance grants to non-governmental, non-profit organizations providing direct humanitarian assistance to Palestinians living in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip, and Israel. Applications are accepted on a year round basis and are evaluated quarterly by a committee of the Board of Directors. Grants are made for charitable, educational, or medical assistance program activities.
A great number of worthwhile proposals are received each year, and many requests for funds must be denied based upon the finite resources available to the Grants Committee to disburse. The Jerusalem Fund directs its support to activities that are within its current interests and are likely to have a wide effect. Support is not normally given for routine operating expenses of institutions or for religious activities.
In view of the limited amount of funds available at any one time, the applicant should submit proposals that are focused, relevant, and demand relatively modest contributions from the Fund. A project that limits itself to building one computer lab for a school has a much greater chance of receiving a grant than one that would like to build an entire school. Moreover, The Jerusalem Fund prefers applicants to demonstrate that they have found other supporters to fund the project in combination with The Jerusalem Fund.
We encourage innovative and creative proposals that attempt to develop Palestinian civil society. All projects submitted to The Jerusalem Fund should have this aim as well. Typical grant awards range from $1,000.00 to $5,000.00. Although we realize that many applicants may not have the time to conduct research on The Jerusalem Fund before applying for a grant due to the Israeli occupation, we recommend that you review our website thoroughly in order to familiarize yourself with your potential supporter.
